Why We Built GreenPin SEO
Our founder spent years running local SEO for home-service businesses. By early 2025, that included three DC-area agency accounts — rankings improving, leads coming in, clients happy.
Then a different question started coming up:
“Why is my competitor showing up when someone asks AI who to call — and I’m not?”
Google AI Overviews were surfacing specific contractors by name. ChatGPT was recommending local businesses too. But the traditional SEO work agencies had relied on for years — backlinks, on-page optimization, citations — wasn’t enough to consistently influence which businesses appeared in AI-generated answers.
So we spent the next four months testing.
We built an entity-based content framework designed to improve how businesses are understood, connected, and cited by AI search engines. Then we combined it with an advanced Google Business Profile signal stack built to strengthen visibility across Google Maps.
The first three businesses we tested the system on all reached the Maps top 3 within 90 days.
That was the turning point.
Agencies needed this too, but building it in-house would take time, expertise, and resources most didn’t have.
